On May 30th, advocates from the Coalition for Women Prisoners testified at the Forum on Domestic Violence. Watch the videos below as Kim Dadou and Lady Kathryn Williams, both domestic violence survivors and advocates, share their stories to express the urgency for the Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act. Tamar Kraft-Stoler, director of the Correction Association of New York’s Women In Prison Project, testified to the inadequate laws pertaining to domestic violence survivors, outlined the ways in which the DVSJA returns sentencing discretion for domestic violence survivors to judges, and addressed misconceptions about the bill.
